The visual dynamic of this picture makes it incredibly compelling. As the two humans provide a scale for what must be an enormous Sea Serpent, the monstrous details of the beast, including the lining of its neck, make it stand out against the eerie nightscape around it.

Larry Elmore is an artists that has been creating fantasy artwork for over twenty years. He has worked at TSR, Inc., and he became known for his illustrations for Dungeons & Dragons and AD&D. His work can also be seen on the covers of the Dragonlance novels, among many other gaming designs, including work for computer games such as Ever Quest.
